RENDA, COMPOSIÇÃO DA FAMÍLIA E FATORES SOCIAIS COMO VARIÁVEIS NUM MODELO DE DISP~NDIOS: O CASO BRASILEIRO

Resumo
Este estudo apresenta uma análise dos vários fatores que influenciam as tendências de consumo por famílias em três cidades brasileiras - Rio de Janeiro, Recife e Porto Alegre. É desenvolvido com base nos resultados da Tese de Douto- rado da autora, na Universidade de.Purdue, em 1979. O trabalho foi desenvolvido com base nos dados de 1968, coletados numa pesquisa pela Fundação Getúlio Vargas e Brookings lnstitution. Estes dados não foram desde então analisados e nenhum outro conjunto de informações com características similares era então disponível Desenvolve-se um procedimento para examinar os efeitos de compo- sição da unidade familiar na demanda por bens de alimentos específicos e por várias categorias não alimentares.
